Though might not be known by the name, Heinz Linge can be recognized in many photographs and films remained from WWII era; a tall man in SS uniform, standing behind Hitler, looking grim and stiff. Linge was Hitler’s valet and perhaps the closest person to Hitler after Eva Braun. In fact, it was Linge, who, on 30 April 1945, helped carry Hitler’s corpse to the Chancellery garden, wrap it in a blanket, douse it with gasoline, and set it alight. With Hitler to the End is Heinz Linge’s memoirs of this period which he published after his release from the Soviet prison.
